 The author

Alan Robinson has over 40 years experience in the relief and development sector.  From 1969 to 1994 he worked for the British Government’s scientific unit, the Natural Resources Institute (NRI).  He left as a Principal Scientific Officer, having benefited from various roles, including Head of NRI’s Biomass Energy Group and Manager of NRI’s Forestry and Biomass Energy Programme.

Alan worked at Tearfund from 1995 to 2012 and was first assigned as an advisor to a partner organization, MOPAWI, in Honduras for 4 years.  He left Tearfund as Head of Programme Funding, primarily involved with gaining support from bilateral and multilateral donors, and was part of Tearfund’s International Group based in Teddington, UK.  In July 2012 Alan joined Mission Aviation Fellowship, working at their office in Folkestone, UK.

During his time with the NRI and Tearfund he has travelled extensively and has spent a total of around 10 years living and working overseas in over 20 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean; Africa and Asia.

In 2008 he studied at the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies (OCMS) as a Research Associate, and developed the website www.faithindevelopment.org

All about mission

Over the years at Tearfund and OCMS, Alan gathered a personal collection of hundreds of articles on the subject of faith and mission, the majority of which are freely available via the internet.  Tearfund  granted  him time to collate the articles, categorize them and publish the references on the internet – hence this website, www.allaboutmission.org.  The inclusion of an article is for information and educational purposes and not an endorsement of it.

The reference system followed is Harvard referencing.  The categories chosen to list the articles are generally broad and thus there will be considerable overlap:  if you don’t find something of interest under one heading you may well find it under a related heading.   As well as hundreds of articles, there is also a list of websites to gain access to additional resources and information.
